This is entertaining at least, im not sure where they are getting the information from but…Columbus is the only city in Ohio named, and it got one star for “encouragement”.

I suppose if horrible road conditions and some of the most uptight yuppie drivers of any city I’ve lived in are “encouraging” then sure it is. At least campus is a nice place for hipsters to do track stands…

It’s not all bad, but it has a long way to go to be a viable biking community, but i’d be willing to wager that its just another trend like everythng else in this city. The upside is that there is barely any traffic which makes riding on most roads really nice, if the roads are rideable anyway, the city is perpetually under construction so there is that to deal with and many of the roads arent terribly well cared for, but thats probably too much to ask. Once you get out of the city and sprawling suburbs its even nicer with less traffic but not much to see or do.

The mayor is sympathetic to bicyclists but depending on voters and the economy he may have a tough road ahead of him for furthering the cause.Columbus has a great potential if people are willing to invest the time that it will take to get it where it can go.  Hopefully that is the case but I’ll believe it when I see it.

In which Barca wins, more imporantly Man U loses.

In all honestly I didnt much care about the outcome of this match. Man U was outplayed on the pitch, ronaldo’s radar seemed to be off as if he was honing in on something else…

This is brilliant. Its more than brilliant. Its…its…I dont have words for what it is but it doesnt matter cause it speaks for itself. Whatever the marketing guys at dell are up to, one thing is clear, they are on target and deserve a raise. There are several hundred designs to choose from but its ones like this that are just too good to be true.

Nothing like selling hipsters “culture” back to them at high prices. Although I suppose no self respecting hipstershit would purchase it anyway because its not a mac. Hypothetically speaking of course if they were to, half of them would buy it and drool all over it for a few weeks until something else shiny catches their attention and the other half would bitch and moan “they are stealing OUR culture!” Come to think of it however, I suppose you have to put SOMETHING into your OFFICIAL ISSUE CHROME MESSENGER BAG.

Hilarious. Its exactly what they are doing to themselves without realising it day in and day out (i know its hard to admit, so you dont have to, just keep buying your culture shhhhhhhhh). So turns out theres actually a use for those shit informercial products. Remix fodder for DJ types. I dont know much about the techno scene but this sounds great to me, and it makes the commercial bearable to watch. Perhaps Vince and whatever company manufactures that garbage should get this over to the marketing team asap.

respect to the doctor who used a dewalt from the maintenance shop to drill a hole in the boys head to save his life. as much as the majority of adolescent boys annoy the piss out of me, and as many times as ive thought about taking a drill to the skull of one, this is one case that warranted the action.

Why not to ride your bike on the sidewalk.

As the weather is getting nicer there are more and more cyclists out, which is a good thing, but many of these muppets are riding on the sidewalk. Even some those I saw on the way to the ride of silence in full team kits were engaged in this deplorable, un-natural, depraved behavior. DISGUSTING.

Here are a few reasons from bicycle safety not to ride on the sidewalk (other than the fact that it is morally reprehensible):

“Crossing between sidewalks can be a fairly dangerous maneuver. If you do it on the left-hand side of the street, you risk getting slammed as per the diagram. If you do it on the right-hand side of the street, you risk getting slammed by a car behind you that’s turning right. You also risk getting hit by cars pulling out of parking lots or driveways. These kinds of accidents are hard to avoid, which is a compelling reason to not ride on the sidewalk in the first place.

And another reason not to ride on the sidewalk is that you’re threatening to pedestrians. Your bike is as threatening to a pedestrian as a car is threatening to you. Finally, riding on the sidewalk is illegal in some places.  If you do plan on riding on sidewalks, do it slowly and EXTRA carefully, ESPECIALLY when crossing the street between two sidewalks.”

Aside from the fact that it is more dangerous to ride your bike on the sidewalk than in the street, properly, with traffic, the police may punch you in the head.

Ride of Silence Observations.

This was a great event, with a good turnout and hopefully sent a message to drivers.

Riding bikes with the mayor!

A few critical observations I had before and during the event.

On my way there i passed people in team kits riding on the sidewalks.

When i got to the state house there were people getting their bikes out of vehicles. (this one is more of a personal problem i have with people letting their bikes ride in cars, than a real issue but it still seems contradictory to the event)

There were several people riding without helmets during the event, which is pretty dumb to begin with but compounded by the safety aspects pushed by the event made it all the more ironic. At least 3 of the people i did see riding helmetless had their chrome brand messenger bags, so i guess as long as you are “stylish” or at least a hipster you dont need a helmet, it would mess up your hair that you so nicely combed over your left eye. Now im glad they were there because the ratio of spandex-le tour riders to hipstershits was huge. Its funny how hipstershits love bikes(well fixies anyway) but dont show up to bike related events. Not that im suprised, but it still sucks. I’m an equal opportunity offender, ill poke fun at us lance armstrong wannabes as much as the hipstershits, but all it comes down to is I wish more people showed up.

all in all a great event with a large turnout over 500 attended,  plus the mayor! and it is important to spread the word to the motorists that they owe us fair treatment on the road, but these things are somewhat bothersome for me.

which i guess is kind of funny, because he obviously is, he has the audacity to not only WEAR A TIE, but hes NOT WEARING A HELMET! In addition ITS A SKINNY TIE and we all know about the ego that WEARING A SKINNY TIE generates in people.
